Finally Anton is happy again. He’s seen „Mexico“ which means we arrived at the beach. Our very own little paradise for the next two weeks. We are staying at Casa Rosa (www.casarosamexiko.com) which is actually pink – another plus since this is Anton’s favourite colour at the moment. Karen and Tony the owners of the place are very nice and most helpful. DVDs, books and a washing machine are available for the guests. A Mexican family was staying here yesterday and today and Anton started talking to the kids. They grown ups talked to us and invited us for a beer. Works in every language.
We arrived via bus, a most comfortable way of travelling if you don’t have a +15kg boy sleeping on you. 😉 The busses are comfortable with lots of leg-room. We booked the 2. class bus which is already considered luxury class, with separate waiting rooms and free wifi and a baggage drop off. Not that I need one, still haven’t heard from the airline about my luggage… Anyway the four hour ride was spend watching cartoon movies and listening to Mexican folk music.
We are happy to leave Cancún behind. The city stressed us out a little. The beautiful beaches are hard to reach, since the ways to the beach are blocked by hotels. No wonder that area is called hotel zone. It didn’t seem very welcome there. The tourists probably only leave the hotel zone to go to Walmart (where we went too to get me some essentials lost in my baggage). Other than that they stay somewhere in that Caribbean Disneyland.
We are looking forward to exploring Merida and Progreso, the place we are staying at right now. We haven’t seen much. As soon as we arrived at Casa Rosa and Anton saw the pool in the yard he started pulling down his pants to go in. Since then he has hardly left the pool and only to go to the beach. We are all more relaxed now, getting used to the new time zone and are actually happy.
Food, again helped so much. Karen and Tony directed us to a restaurant just down the beach where we actually had our fist real meal here and ohhhh my it was good. We ordered fish not really knowing how it would be prepared and it was super yummy! Grilled fish (no idea what kind) with a garlic/salt seasoning and the other had a tomato kind of seasoning. Rice and fresh salsa came with it. Food alone apparently makes us all happy. The view sitting on the beach made this even nicer even though rain started to come in. It was nice and refreshing after a really hot day in the sun.
